A swimming pool is the number one amenity that holidaymakers look for when booking accommodation. It makes all the difference to the demand for holiday cottages if a swimming pool or leisure suite is present. Sometimes guests don’t even get to use the pool that much but they like the idea of having a swim or relaxing in a jacuzzi if there is the option.
Most people on holiday in the UK, go out and about pursuing their activities during the day and return to their holiday accommodation late afternoon or evening. It is nice to go for a swim before or after dinner, depending on the time you eat. Staying in a holiday cottage is flexible in that there are no dedicated meal times, dinner is when you would like to have it and that can be different every day. Should you be so lucky as to have a holiday cottage with its own private swimming pool, you could theoretically swim at midnight if you wish.

Large independent holiday homes with a private pool are excellent for groups of people on holiday together. Every night can be a swim party. This especially suits hen and stag groups although it is also wonderful for families and groups of anyone on holiday together.
Walking or bird watching groups often rent self-catering cottages for their trips. They are certainly active, out and about during the day and what better was to be sociable and relaxed than to have the chance of a swim later in the evening?
Indoor or Outdoor swimming pools?
Outdoor swimming pools when heated are wonderful in the summer. Usually surrounded by green lawns, people can lounge beside an outdoor pool and really enjoy any sunshine. An indoor heated pool has the prefect climate all year round so it depends on where you plan to go for a holiday and the time of year.
Where in the UK are you planning to go on holiday?
Most people decide on their holiday destination because of what they plan to see or do there. Few people would go to northern Ireland because they have seen a stunning holiday cottage with its own swimming pool. Mind you, if the price was appealing, people may just book that on sheer value alone and then paln their itinerary. There is as much to see in northern Ireland as anywhere else.
